Goings-on... (Part II)

Our second week of craziness was a youth mission trip to Cherokee, NC! We went through a mission-sending body of the Presbyterian Church of America (PCA) called Mission to the World (MTW). MTW hosts teams 9 weeks out of the year in Cherokee and various jobs, tasks, and ministries are given to the teams that come. Our group did some cleaning, building, and hosted a VBS. We were given so many opportunities to serve and love people, and we DEFINITELY were served and loved on as well. God definitely taught me a lot about his LOVE and patience with us that week, and I'm so grateful for that. I had to call on Him a lot for patience, and I in turn learned how often God waits on us... I know that God moved in so many ways and in so many people, I couldn't even begin explain it all! We are so blessed to have been a part of this mission team! Here are just few pictures to give you a glimpse into our week in Cherokee:
Some of the girls in our cabin!
Kyle and I enjoying ice cream by the river! It was SO beautiful!
These boys look like they are braving the mighty river when in reality (as you can tell by one of our girls in the background) it's just a couple feet deep right there!
Our group trying to keep the volleyball in the air... I think we got to 17 volleys!
Working diligently to prepare for VBS the next day... our theme was the Bee-attitudes!
In the mornings, our group split into two teams. The first team did various projects during the week: prepping houses to be painted later on, mowing, picking up poison ivy (yikes!), and painting the MTW building! Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures of their hard work (and they worked a lot harder than we did!). Our second team re-built a ramp for a sweet elderly woman. This is a before picture of the ramp!
We went to the outdoor drama Unto These Hills which tells the story of the Cherokee people before, during, and after "the extraction" or the Trail of Tears.
We were acting out our hard work since we didn't have a specific job at that point...
Our Bumblebees! They put on a skit everyday at VBS.
Hanging out with kids at VBS
Kyle working hard!
This is our after picture (I guess I could have showed a picture of the ramp!)... we SO enjoyed getting to know Ms. Tootie! She baked us muffins on the second day!
Our girls playing a prank on the boys...this is the last morning of the trip! The timing was pretty smart since there was no time for the boys to get them back!!
Some of the girls saying good-bye!

What an amazing trip! We all can't wait to go back again!
